Our client is a well established electrical and mechanical engineering services company operating in both Portsmouth and Southampton.

They have a wide customer base and typically repair, overhaul and install pumps, motors and gearboxes.

Due to their ongoing success we are looking to recruit n Electrical Fitter in Portsmouth and Southampton.

Hours: 8 am to 4 pm; Monday to Friday; 35 hours a week – reasonable over time expected to be worked.

Overall Purpose of the job:

Install, fit, test, assemble, commission, maintain and repair electro mechanical systems and equipment and wiring in accordance with regulations and specifications. Carry out work to the satisfaction of the customer and the management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse job cards to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, estimate, description of problems and / or expected serviceability.
  • Test electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot / fault find.
  • Disassemble electro-mechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration and condition.
  • Requisition of replacement electrical parts.
  • Verify repairs using start-up testing procedures.
  • Retest reassembled electro-mechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
  • Work on customer sites as well as in the Workshop.
  • Operate specialized equipment including Test Meters.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Producing test / Minor Works certificates where applicable.
  • Assist with purely mechanical jobs when required.
  • Follow all Company Health & Safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Keep work area neat and tidy.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request from the Management

Key skills:

  • Experience of customer site work preferably in the Water Utility industry.
  • Adaptable to working in a Workshop environment when required.
  • Excellent Health & Safety knowledge and application including safe isolation.
  • 18th Edition qualified. Test and Inspect qualification an advantage.
  • Well organised with the ability to multi task.
  • ‘Can do’ attitude with a flexible approach to work.
  • Excellent all round electrical skills.
