We have a Manufacturing Engineer contract role for a prestigious FMCG company based in Petersfield.

Education:

Minimum of an HND but preferably Bachelor Degree standard, within packaging/mechanical engineering

Position Summary

  • To support the introduction of new, transferred and revised products into the manufacturing operations within the company.
  • To review all new product codes for Brands under their responsibility, coordinating with US developers, Project Engineering, Quality Assurance, Industrial Engineering and Planning, to ensure their successful launch.
  • To participate in the collective departmental aim of introducing products on a timely basis, in accordance with cost, efficiency and quality objectives.
  • There is an expectation of high levels of travel between Third Party Manufacturers.


Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work with packaging developers regarding design for manufacture, ensuring that the primary and secondary packaging is as automatable as possible on our clients UK production lines.
  • Carry out risk assessment for key new products, including the use of tools such as FMEA.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates with local and North American support departments.
  • Assign the production of new products to the most appropriate production equipment in conjunction with Project Engineering,
  • Specify requirements for new change parts and /or equipment modifications.
  • Manage line trials to prove the compatibility of packages and capability of equipment. This will require the coordination of components, communication of requirements and reporting of results.
  • Provide support to Assembly Operations including advising on equipment set-up and component function, reviewing the impact of any changes proposed.
  • Calculate and populate SPC data for new products within jobholder`s portfolio.
  • Act as a liaison between Plant operations and other departments inc. Packaging, Marketing, Design, R&D, QA and suppliers ensuring package / product specifications are within manufacturing capabilities.
  • Generate and develop saving initiatives, investigating their feasibility and facilitate and drive the implementation of justifiable improvements.
  • Support line improvement and strategic projects, as required, taking details from relevant manager, potentially leading a project team or acting individually as necessary.
  • Identify and progress improvement opportunities, through analysis of historic product performance data within the plant.


Candidate Requirements

  • Knowledge of SAP systems.
  • Knowledge of the ME line trial processes
  • Technical knowledge to be able to discuss technical issues during line trials
  • Very good communication skills,
  • Very good office tool knowledge (Microsoft office : Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc)
  • Able to travel to and between Third Party Manufacturers
