Human Factors Specialist
Full-time, 12 month contract

Our client is currently recruiting for a Human Factors Specialist within the QA Operations department to join an experienced and committed team where as a team we manufacture cosmetics for the global market.

This position is accountable for leading the project to apply Human Factors methods to evaluate and redesign Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the manufacture, inspect and test of cosmetic products. The successful candidate will also be able to provide HF insight on the causal factors of human error (HAZOP) and support enhancements and improvements of processes and procedures, applying Hierarchical Task Analysis methods. As well as enhance the capabilities of the team, through training and mentoring, coupled with providing direction in key technical areas and driving innovation to grow the business.
Responsible for supporting the design and case/safety report assessments, undertaking tasks such as:
- Develop error tolerant systems and to prevent errors.
- To manage human error proactively it should be addressed as part of the risk assessment process, focusing on tasks such as Human error identification, Human Factors design support, Human Factors project integration management,
- Provide a robust understanding and expertise of Human Factors support on safety and risk assessments across the plant
- Conduct Incident Investigations to identify why individuals have failed rather than stopping at 'operator error'
- Utilize the application of HF methods to find resolution of operational issues and identify trends in common occurrences of human failure.
- Implement resolutions to Human Errors in accordance with regulations and HSE guidelines.
- Human Factors verification and validation via the implementation of modern HF techniques and relevant good practice for the resolution of operational issues.
- Foster and drive the concern that current processes and assessments need to consider human factors as a distinct element which must be recognized, assessed, and managed effectively in order to control risks.

Qualifications
Characteristics of a successful candidate:
- 3-5 years’ experience of leading and delivering Human Factors support in manufacturing environments.
- A degree level qualification in related subject, (e.g. Human Factors/ergonomics, psychology)
- Experience in Human Factor Integration Plan development
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills, and the ability to split time across multiple projects
