Main Duties

  • Creation of software testing methods and protocol requirements for products with IOT compatibility and to develop effective testing plans during product development
  • Create well-defined and structured test cases
  • Execute test plans, investigate and report bugs to development team
  • Develop test tools and infrastructure using Python scripts and hardware fixtures
  • Test of full product to validate it meets functional requirements in co-ordination with the product quality owner
  • Effective reporting of issues in Jira putting developers into a position to resolve issues
  • Define, create and maintain test infrastructure within laboratory environment
  • Updating of Units Under Test to release levels ahead of testing
  • Test scheduling co-ordinated with development sprint cycles
  • Regression testing of existing products with new software updates
  • Develop test automation in order to reduce cycle times and improve repeatability
  • Preparing and presenting test reports and effective prioritisation of defects
  • Working with internal development teams and external development partners
  • Prioritisation and classification of defects and act as a software quality gatekeeper
  • Support feasibility activities for new products and features
  • Support investigation of field defects

Knowledge and Skills

  • Engineering degree in electronics engineering or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a software test role
  • Experience of testing connected or other IOT products
  • Development of software test tools in Python
  • Effective team communication (written and verbal) both internally and externally, ability to produce clear and succinct communications tailored to the audience
  • Proven problem-solving ability individually and as part of a team using structured techniques
  • Analytical and methodical mindset
  • Proven experience in working collaboratively within a project team including software, hardware and mechanical engineers
  • Able to travel when required
  • Ability to multitask
  • Software build and test automation tools such as Jenkins would be desirable
  • Knowledge of C programming desirable
