We’re recruiting for a technically skilled Technical Support Engineer to join a growing aftersales and service support function based in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an electro-mechanical background and experience supporting heat pumps systems who enjoys fault finding, technical problem solving and supporting engineers, installers, and customers. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical support, ensuring equipment performance, supporting commissioning activities and contributing to ongoing product and service improvements.

As Technical Support Engineer, you’ll provide remote technical assistance to customers and field service engineers, supporting installation, commissioning, servicing, and fault resolution across a range of heat pumps as well as heating, cooling and air handling equipment. You will also support warranty investigations, product testing, and technical training delivery.

Main Duties

  • Provide telephone and email technical support to customers and service engineers
  • Diagnose faults and support troubleshooting of heating, cooling, and air handling systems
  • Test and fault-find returned warranty items
  • Configure and set parameters on spare parts prior to dispatch
  • Support commissioning activities and communicate technical requirements to engineers
  • Produce technical documentation and training materials
  • Deliver product and aftersales training to customers and partners
  • Assist with quality and compliance activities (ISO 9001:2015)
  • Attend site visits when required to support technical investigations

Skills & Knowledge

  • Electro-mechanical technical background (HNC/HND or equivalent preferred)
  • Experience supporting heat pumps, HVAC, or air handling systems
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Competent testing electrical components and equipment
  • Confident communicator — phone, email, and technical reporting
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning and product knowledge
  • Full UK driving licence
