Job Description
Our client is a dynamic company looking for an experienced CNC Operator in the stone industry. Candidates need to be organised & demonstrate critical thinking for this versatile role consisting of working with a small team and using a range of CNC equipment in producing high quality stonework.
Their small but diverse team have an extensive knowledge in sourcing, designing, manufacturing, and fitting lightweight stone products. With a worldwide client base in various sectors, they are looking to offer a unique opportunity to manufacture stone products.
DUTIES
The role involves driving complex cutting machines such as a 5-axis CNC and 3-axis waterjet machine to create accurate pieces from natural stone materials for facades, bespoke fabrications, and other stone projects. The role is a mixture of cutting programming, stone selection, stone handling/placement and machine operations and maintenance.
The range of duties will include:
- Operate 5 axis Stone CNC machining centres & 3 axis Waterjet CNC machining centres
- Programming and interpretation of drawings
- Creation of CNC drawings
- Machine & plant maintenance
- Tool stocking & checking of tools
- Daily pre-operation checks on your specific machines
- Quality control & checking of manufactured products
- Design for Manufacture (DFM) thinking and analysis
- Problem solving
- Assist with general shop floor housekeeping and maintenance and day-to-day operations of factory floor.
- Collaboration with team members to ensure efficient workflow and completion of projects.
- General Health & safety awareness and compliance with all H&S policies and procedures.
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have some experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the stone industry is beneficial but not essential. They will also need to be self-motivated, trustworthy and results driven. The candidate should show the ability to think in 3D with a keen attention to detail and drive to.
Required qualifications & Skills:
- Education in an engineering background
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ideally experience working with CAD and thinking in 3D
- Understanding of construction / masonry drawings
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
- Basic understanding of CNC operation
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to fit into a small team
- Time management and organisational skills with good attention to detail
- A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to self-manage
- Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success
- Willingness to learn and positive problem-solving attitude
Expected hours: 45 per week, Day Shift, Monday - Friday
