An exciting position has become available for a full time HSE Officer to join our client’s friendly team based in Portsmouth.

Our client is a leading manufacturer based in Portsmouth. They have an excellent team who always work to an extremely high standard, due to this they are proud of the repeat custom that they receive.

Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Monitoring areas and reporting any H&S concerns with staff and the environment
  • Support and assist with ideas to help improve the operational performance over all functions in the business
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in different departments to help ensure all H&S risks for each process are covered on the risk assessment
  • Help ensure the companies health and safety policy adheres to current legislation
  • Assist with the monitoring and audits of all Health, Safety and Compliance obligations providing associated compliance reports
  • Establish procedures associated with health and safety training needs and maintain records of training undertaken
  • Monitor inspection and maintenance reports, including service schedules, arranging breakdown visits and accurate record keeping
  • Carry out routine fire safety checks, monitor schedules and report faults
  • Assist with the reporting and investigations of all accidents, incidents and near misses, and assist with implementing preventative actions
  • Assist with the monitoring of compliance with the company’s health and safety policies, arrangements, procedures and KPIs
  • Help identify opportunities for continuous safety
  • Continuous research on up-to-date knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practice
  • Help create and maintain a safe working environment in which individuals feel safety has high value and that they are clear about responsibilities, safety aims and objectives within the division
  • Help manage and maintain the Health and Safety Management System, including risk assessments and monitoring records of actions taken

Training

  • Monitor internal and external staff training and training expiry dates
  • Assist with arranging internal and external staff training
  • Monitor and update the training matrix
  • Issue risk assessments and learning modules when required
  • Assist with new starter inductions
  • Maintain accurate and up to date training records

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience in a Health and Safety role
  • Organised and able to prioritise workload
  • Computer literate including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • A thorough understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Pro-Active

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience working in production/manufacturing
  • H&S qualifications

Hours: Primarily 07:00am to 15:30pm.

Due to running three shifts, you may be required to start early or finish late depending on the needs of the business.
