The Opportunity

Are you a Health & Safety Coordinator with strong administrative skills and excellent attention to detail?

A well-established business in Portchester is looking for an organised and proactive professional to support its day-to-day health and safety activities. This is a fully office-based role focused on maintaining accurate records, coordinating compliance activities and supporting managers across the business.

As Health & Safety Coordinator, you will help ensure documentation, training records, inspections and corrective actions remain organised, current and audit-ready.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain health and safety documents, databases, trackers and legal registers.

  • Update policies, procedures, forms and document version controls.

  • Record accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, tracking actions through to completion.

  • Coordinate risk assessment reviews, statutory inspections and equipment checks.

  • Maintain training matrices, arrange courses and monitor certificate expiry dates.

  • Schedule workplace inspections, support audits and produce follow-up reports.

  • Review contractor documentation, including insurance, RAMS and induction records.

  • Prepare safety notices, meeting minutes, KPI reports and monthly incident summaries.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Demonstrate previous experience within an administrative or coordination role.

  • Possess strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook confidently.

  • Understand basic workplace health and safety principles.

  • Show knowledge of document control and record-management processes.

  • Communicate professionally and manage multiple priorities independently.

  • Handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.

  • Hold, or be working towards, an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification—desirable.

The successful Health & Safety Coordinator will be approachable, reliable and confident supporting managers with compliance administration. Experience handling risk assessments, COSHH documents, training records or contractor paperwork would be beneficial.

Working hours are 7:45am–4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 7:45am–12:30pm Friday, totalling 39 hours per week.
