Sheet Metal Worker / CNC Press Brake Operator

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker / CNC Press Brake Operator to join their manufacturing team.

This is a hands-on engineering role involving the manufacture, fabrication and assembly of sheet metal components and assemblies. The successful candidate will have strong experience reading engineering drawings, operating CNC press brakes and working accurately to engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture sheet metal products including electrical cabinets, boxes, brackets, panels and assemblies.
  • Program, set and operate CNC Press Brake machinery.
  • Create and modify CNC program using Bysoft software.
  • Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Cut, bend, shape and hand-finish sheet metal using a range of machinery, hand and power tools.
  • Fabricate and assemble components using welding, riveting, bolting and soldering techniques.
  • Work with a variety of sheet metal materials.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and report any faults.
  • Complete production records and job documentation.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a time-served Sheet Metal Worker / Engineer with a strong background in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Essential:

  • Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Ideally minimum 5 years’ manufacturing experience.
  • Proven experience in sheet metal manufacture and fabrication.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Good understanding of GD&T.
  • Good understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Bystronic CNC machinery.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks CAD.
  • Experience working with a variety of sheet metal materials.

You will be a motivated and self-starting individual who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You should be organised, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a strong commitment to quality and getting the job done right.
