Workshop Recruitment is working with a well-established organisation seeking a Junior Lighting Designer to join its design team in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for a Junior Lighting Designer looking to develop their career within a supportive environment where training and professional development are encouraged.
The successful Junior Lighting Designer will support a variety of lighting projects, working closely with internal teams and clients to create functional and visually appealing lighting solutions. This role offers exposure to both new-build and refurbishment projects.
Key Responsibilities
Design and coordinate lighting projects from concept through to completion.
Produce drawings, schedules, and plans using CAD and related software.
Develop lighting layouts, specifications, and control strategies.
Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and customer-facing teams.
Attend site visits and present design concepts and solutions.
Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation and industry standards.
Build and maintain positive client relationships.
Prepare specification sheets and supporting project documentation.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Basic understanding of mathematical concepts.
Strong design and technical abilities.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Interest in interior design and lighting design.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of Relux is desirable but not essential as training is provided.
