Workshop Recruitment is proud to celebrate this Sunday 28th April, World Day for Safety and Health at Work. As an organisation that works closely with clients across a range of industries, we recognise the importance of maintaining Health and Safety standards in the workplace, and how this differs throughout each sector.
This year’s theme ‘The impacts of climate change on occupational safety and health’ highlights the effects that climate change can have on individuals and businesses, and provides an opportunity for us all to consider how those environmental factors change the way we deal with Health and Safety at Work.
Extreme temperatures, rising sea levels and an increased frequency of natural disasters can all have a direct impact on our workplaces. Climate related events such as floods and storms pose threats to infrastructure, cause delays in supply chains and disrupt essential services. Whilst heat stress, extreme weather and air quality all need to be considered for outdoor occupations such as construction roles. Adequate measures, including hydration strategies, shade provision, and emergency preparedness, are crucial for mitigating these risks.
Adapting to the impacts of climate change requires us all to prioritize risk assessments, implement resilient work practices, and consider behavioural and attitude changes. By understanding how climate impact connects with workplace hazards, we can develop proactive strategies to protect workers and build resilient organizations.
