In today’s ever-changing world it is more important than ever to ensure health and safety standards are met in all aspects of our lives.

With a large percentage of our time spent in the workplace it is vital that we are meeting the needs of our employees and protecting them from injury or harm.

This can often feel easier said than done with some of the largest barriers in achieving the desired Health and Safety standards being;
Lack of management commitment, Lack of employee engagement, Insufficient resources or even an understanding of the required standards.

Here are some of the things we can all do regularly to ensure we are adhering to Health and Safety guidelines:

Regular training and education

Make sure employees of all levels are aware of the risks involved in their job and how to prevent them to avoid accidents. When changes come into effect make sure these are communicated effectively to the team.

Provide appropriate PPE

Provide the appropriate PPE required for the role to ensure the employee is able to complete their work safely.

Promote good housekeeping and wellbeing

Encourage employees to keep their own workspaces clean and tidy to ensure an organised, safe workplace. Similarly, check-in on their wellbeing to ensure they are happy and healthy.

Encourage reporting of incidents

By ensuring incidents are reported, you will be able to review any potential safety concerns and implement changes moving forward.

Regularly review and update policies for your industry

Ensure you review your Health and Safety Policies regularly, as well as industry guidelines. Keep them up to date and relevant to your current situation.

Whilst the above are all broader ways to adhere to Health and Safety in the Workplace overall we know it can be more complex in some sectors.

At Workshop Recruitment we have a range of consultants with extensive experience in the specific industries we recruit for, who know exactly what our clients require of the candidates that are being placed on-site with them. With this in mind, we will ensure all pre-work checks for licences, certifications and training are completed for you before the employees reach site.

We are also proud to have two mental health first aiders within our team that are on hand should anyone need support in this area.
