Attracting good quality applicants for your vacancies is vital in any recruitment process. With this in mind, it is important to include the information job seekers really want to see to ensure you are getting the best person for the job.

Here are our top 5 tips of points to include in your advert to attract the best candidates:

Salary

According to Reed, two out of three applicants are more likely to apply for a role where the salary is advertised. Although some job seekers may be intrigued by a role that doesn’t show the salary, many will be put off and simply won’t apply.

Benefits

In addition to salary, attractive benefits packages are becoming more desirable with candidates. These benefits vary but could include; gym memberships, discount offers, healthcare or pension schemes. If you do offer these, ensure you outline them on your job advert to make your company stand out from the rest.

Flexibility / Work Life Balance

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the focus for a lot of people has changed, largely around what they deem most important in life. Flexible working is often key as people want to achieve a better work/life balance. If it is not a requirement for your employees to be in the office full time then consider a flexible work arrangement when advertising your role. Similarly, if you are able to offer
flexibility for parents, candidates with disabilities or caregivers then your company will appear far more appealing.

Career Progression

Promoting and supporting career progression is a big factor that many job seekers consider when looking for their next role. This includes opportunities to progress and gain promotions but also the ability to continue learning and developing their skills. If a company advertises that they offer opportunities to progress and develop, they are far more likely to attract strong candidates.

Company Culture / Values

As we spend a large proportion of our week at work, it is crucial that the organisation we work for aligns with our values. Job seekers will be looking to ensure the company culture fits well with them, their personality and what they deem important. Consider including your company values on your adverts to allow candidates to gauge their suitability.
