Engineering is behind everything that makes up modern society. From healthcare to manufacture, and even finding ways to stem - and maybe in the future reverse - some of the effects that modern society has had on our planet.
.
For something so basic to everyone’s existence, it’s been disappointing that there have been so few women engineers. After all, it’s almost like engineering has been looking at everything from a very one-sided point of view. In study, engineering isn’t really seen as a popular subject. Ask a kid what an engineer does…..
.
But things are changing.
.
In both work and study, it’s no longer acceptable to consider subjects as ‘male’ or ‘female’ orientated.
.
More females are studying STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects in college now, encouraged by the availability of more career roles, plus the breaking down of the historic gender based pre-conceptions.
.
As a result more women are taking up careers in engineering than ever before. Employers are actively recruiting females in an effort to provide more balance to their workforce, plus they are adopting more flexible working practices, which offer a better working environment for parents.
.
So we know what works – we just need to do more of it.
.
Meanwhile, we are doing our bit, and have some exciting engineering opportunities that may interest women – so do get in touch.
