What We’re Seeing in Manufacturing

With National Manufacturing Day approaching next week, we wanted to share what we’re seeing in the manufacturing recruitment market every day.

After decades of working closely with manufacturing businesses, we’ve seen the industry change considerably, from technology and automation to the skills businesses need from their people.

But one thing hasn’t changed, good people remain at the heart of every successful manufacturing business.

At Workshop Recruitment, we’re currently seeing demand for experienced people across CNC machining, CNC programming, machine setting and operating, production, assembly, fabrication, welding, maintenance and quality, as well as manufacturing management and supervisory positions.

We’re also seeing how hard it can be to find people with the right skills, experience and, importantly, the right attitude.

As Director Daimion Eastley, puts it

‘Finding good manufacturing people isn’t always easy. You need the right experience and skills, but attitude and whether someone is going to fit into the team are just as important. We’ve been recruiting in manufacturing for decades, so we know the industry, we know the roles and we know what makes a good candidate. That experience really does make a difference, it’s about finding the right person for the business, not just filling a job’

That’s where specialist recruitment makes a difference. Knowing the roles, understanding the industry and knowing where to find the right people can make all the difference when it comes to building a strong manufacturing team.

Next week, for National Manufacturing Day, we’ll be exploring the manufacturing sector in more detail and celebrating some of the fabulous manufacturing businesses we’re proud to work with. From the people behind the products to the businesses driving innovation across the region, we’re looking forward to shining a light on the fantastic manufacturing community we’re lucky enough to work alongside.
