Our client is one of the UK's largest independent surfacing contractors, delivering bespoke surfacing solutions across a wide range of industries nationwide and throughout the UK.
Our client is looking for a HGV Lorry Fitter to join their team, reporting to the Fleet Manager working on our fleet of HGV commercial vehicles you will be carrying out routine preventive maintenance across Stevenage and the South region.
Role Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGV lorries and trailers to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Attend emergency breakdowns of vehicles and carry out preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure minimum down time.
MOT preparation, break testing, remedial repairs as directed by the director and as required.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work conducted on vehicles.
Work closely with the logistics and fleet team to minimise vehicle downtime and ensure efficient fleet management. Manage the inventory of parts and materials, ensuring timely availability for repairs and maintenance.
Promoting good housekeeping within the workshop environment, maintaining allocated work areas in a clean and tidy condition.
Carry out risk assessments before commencing work on lorries and trailers. Ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments as required.
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 in relevant discipline or demonstrable commitment to work towards this
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and fault finding
Knowledge of camera assistance systems
Flexible approach to working hours and conditions – early mornings/late finishes this is to ensure fleet is in fit serviceable condition.
Knowledge of current plant equipment allowing prompt and effective repairs.
Basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
Effective communication skills with line management, site personnel, clients and external supply chain.
Full UK clean driving license – Van and fuel card is provided.
