Our client based in Ashford, Kent requires an experienced Warehouse Manager.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The day-to-day management of the warehouse / yard operation and warehouse team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To pro-actively manage the day-to-day running of the warehouse operation within agreed costs, service levels and KPI`s
  • To support the business through the provision of appropriate warehouse services and drive warehouse efficiencies
  • Efficient utilisation of the warehouse / yard area by regularly reviewing the stock layout
  • Ensure the smooth processing of customer orders in line with timescales
  • Stock control including stock rotation, accuracy, cycle counts, full stock counts and damage reduction
  • To manage the warehouse costs within the agreed budget in conjunction with the Operations Director
  • Recruit, develop, retain, motivate, provide leadership for and recognise the achievements of the warehouse team, ensuring that they have clear objectives in order to meet the goals of the business and ensure that the annual PDR process is completed
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (HASAW, WTD) and other relevant employment legislation to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure that the warehouse team maintain their focus on meeting customer expectations, in controlling costs and on continuous improvement in all warehouse activities
  • To monitor activities and improve working methods to ensure that warehouse procedures and processes achieve best practice standards and are able to meet the changing needs of the business and customers
  • Manage and improve staff morale and working conditions through pro-active and appropriate communication and recognition
  • Ensuring that absence is dealt with promptly in line with the Company`s Attendance Procedure.
  • Responsibility for discipline within the warehouse operation and ensuring that the Company`s processes and procedures are adhered to


JOB DIMENSIONS / SCOPE

  • The jobholder is responsible for all warehouse staff within the operations area
  • The jobholder is responsible for controlling the warehouse budget
  • The jobholder is responsible for ensuring that all procedures carried out by staff are in accordance with current health & safety, environmental, equal opportunities and best practice
  • The jobholder is expected to act as a source of expertise in warehouse issues and would be expected to be able to resolve issues and problems which are not able to be resolved by staff reporting to the jobholder.


KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Previous experience of management in a warehouse environment including SLA and KPI improvement
  • Able to act as a source of expertise on warehouse issues
  • Able to use IT packages (including Microsoft word and Excel, Powerpoint)
  • An experienced people manager with a proven track record of developing and maintaining new and existing warehouse systems and processes
  • Able to demonstrate leadership, excellent communication and professional level interpersonal skills
  • Possess good organisational, planning and problem solving skills
  • Setting, monitoring and reviewing of objectives, performance targets and development of staff within the Warehouse Managers area of responsibility
  • Cost, service and compliance
  • Performance of warehouse team in meeting delivery, stock, vehicle and customer service targets and requirements
  • Performance against budget
  • Co-operation with other branch staff in co-ordinating warehouse activities
  • Flexibility in the role
