Our client is entering a new vertical market and requires a Market Development Manager who can drive the strategic solution into that new market through research, solution development, project tracking, lead acquisition, qualification and conversion.

The ideal candidate will then draw upon their qualified and experienced knowledge to work with the end users on solution development techniques to provide answers to their problems using a wide portfolio of products and systems. The candidate will not only provide the awareness and education on our client’s offerings but then lead the end users through the evaluation process to eventually convert these projects into qualified leads and subsequently into sales. This role will involve working closely with the sales and marketing teams.

This role is initially a 12-month contact but expected to be extended beyond this if success is demonstrated in the role. The position comes with an attractive commission structure.

Responsibilities:

  • Help understand the relevant market in the UK and assist the internal team in developing our solutions in response to problems identified.
  • Identify business opportunities in order to generate revenue, and help the business grow.
  • Strategic planning and positioning to enhance position and reputation.
  • Generate leads and cold call prospective customers
  • Drive the implementation of our strategy with the solutions we have developed for this market.
  • Communicate and co-ordinate with the team leads and business leadership how solutions can be tailored, or products designed to meet market trends within the vertical.
  • Deliver awareness to the market of how our products and systems can solve problems faced in the market.
  • Provide education to interim users and end users of our products and systems solve current pains
  • Nurture relationships with leads generated via inbound marketing techniques to develop solutions which are specified within building design documentation.
  • Communicate market insights to the business:
    • Change in regulation
    • Change in market environment
    • Development of customer needs & specific pains
    • Adjust value proposition and our solutions to ensure they stay relevant and meet required standards and customer need.
  • Project tracking within the specified vertical, understanding the stages of the project, the scope of works and how/when is the optimal time to target the project
  • Prospect profiling skills to understand the end users’ motivations
  • Key influence/decision maker identification
  • Specification development skills
  • Work with account managers to onboard leads and convert projects into sales via our partner network.
  • Liaising with professional bodies, regulation tracking.
  • Active input and participation in production of relevant marketing material and content and planning of market reach strategies

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the high-rise residential buildings or housing association industries and/or knowledge of the fire safety industry is desirable
  • Previous experience in business development or market development roles is essential
  • Relates well to all personality types inside and outside the organisation, multi-culturally; builds appropriate rapport and uses diplomacy and tact
  • Solid verbal and written presentation, communications, and influencing skills
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Must possess solid judgement and ability to work autonomously from established goals and strategic direction; Must be able to cope with ambiguity
  • Possess strategic thinking and can look ahead and respond proactively
  • Ability to work in a complex matrix environment to create buy-in
  • Demonstrates courage through leading change: finding better solutions and encouraging change to achieve them
  • Commits to a decision without undue delay and moves forward
  • Holds other people and themselves accountable for performance
  • Business development and project sales experience
