Our client based in the Waterlooville area requires an experienced Injection Technician to work double day shift hours.

Job Purpose

To ensure cost effective, controlled production at all times. To achieve the business’ desired commercial goals and customer requirements in respect of cost, quality and delivery.

Set up and removal of all tooling into injection moulding machines. Housekeeping and cleanliness around production equipment. Timely and accurate commencement of production. Maintenance of records confirming that production is under control and to agreed parameters. Conduct all tool changes under the agreed KPI target time.

Main responsibilities

  • Load/unload injection mould tools following the safe systems of work
  • Setting of production tooling and ancillary equipment in line with master settings
  • Identification, reporting and action to in-process problems which will affect quality and cost
  • Effective hand over from set up to production with Quality Technician and operator
  • Report to Shift Supervisor equipment that is failing to perform to satisfactory standards
  • Maintenance of records to confirm process is in control
  • Plan and prepare next production job well in advance of its commencement to production.

Other responsibilities

  • Improvement of current methods, cycles, processes to achieve better cost, quality and performance
  • Raise system requests for equipment or tooling that requires attention via the MAR and TAR databases
  • Housekeeping
  • Routine maintenance to equipment as required
  • Promote a team spirit and pride in the workplace
  • Covering machines for breaks
  • Development support when required
  • Support to all sites when required

Education

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in injection moulding or other related engineering or manufacturing subject.
  • Completed Apprenticeship in a related subject.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of injection moulding process including monitoring/optimising and development of process
  • Knowledge of injection moulding machines including all safety features
  • Knowledge of injection moulding ancillary equipment including Robots/hot runner systems and mould heaters.
  • Knowledge of materials processing and processing temperatures

Desirable

  • Basic knowledge of manual handling practices
  • Knowledge of conducting gate freeze studies
  • Knowledge of calculating residence times
  • Knowledge of Calculating projected clamp tonnage
  • Knowledge of injection mould tooling

Skills

Essential

  • Good manual dexterity skills
  • Troubleshooting – Determining causes of operating errors and deciding how to rectify
  • Co-ordination
  • Speaking – Talking to others to convey information effectively
