Our client based in the Portsmouth area requires Process/Assembly Operators to work at their site in Portsmouth.
Key Responsibilities:
To undertake activities in order to manufacture and assemble products using standard work process, while working to the required specifications.
To conduct all duties with due care and attention to Health and Safety.
Hours will be double day shift after training which will be completed on day shift.
Principal Accountabilities for:
To interpret drawings and then cut and mark out material accurately in accordance with the drawing specifications
To bond a variety of rubber materials using adhesives
To laminate fabrics using adhesives
To operate welding machine accurately
To operate sewing machines
To sign off own work at appropriate work stages with production stamp
To conduct other manufacturing/assembly duties within their general capabilities
To make them self-available when required to undertake the appropriate Health & Safety, legislative or relevant skills training in connection with their role
To participate in and make recommendations to continuous improvements through Lean Manufacturing that will assist with production efficiency
Qualifications:
Good general secondary education
Experience:
Experience of working in a Manufacturing/Engineering environment
Knowledge/Experience of Sail Making/Upholstery/Trimming/Dressmaking would be desirable
Understanding of basic engineering principles
Familiar with and have used hand tools and Portable Electrical appliances
Use to working in a medium/heavy manufacturing environment
Personal Characteristics:
Attention to detail and the ability to work accurately
Willingness to learn skills required to operate machinery and learn processes
Self-starter with the ability to work with the minimum of supervision
Standard level of written and oral communication skills
