Our client is a Portsmouth based manufacturing company specialising in the innovative design and production of electrical / electronic components. They offer a breadth and depth of expertise in such markets as industrial and instrumentation, medical, military, aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics and telecommunications.

As a business the company undertakes processes from product/machine design through tooling, moulding, stamping, turning and electro-plating into robotic and automated assembly, packing and despatch. Designing and building our own production equipment adds a further layer of complexity to our engineering & manufacturing processes.

Main Purpose of the role:

This role is working within an experienced team, building special purpose machines for factory automation. Working collaboratively with a broad team of talented mechanical, electrical & software engineers. The ideal candidate will have a background in machine production build and support, working with automated machinery.

Key Tasks:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience using wide range of engineering tools and machines, I.E milling machines, lathe, pillar drill, surface grinder
  • Building new top-level Sub-assemblies to engineering drawings
  • Having a high level of detail on mechanical builds and tolerances
  • Working with design engineers on new automation developments
  • Developing solutions on new R&D equipment challenges and liaise effectively and efficiently
  • Following electrical schematics for build on automation and control systems
  • Fault finding and electrical testing on built solutions
  • Having a good understating of installing Pneumatic control systems to specification
  • Fault finding pneumatics and machine pneumatic configuration
  • Working with commissioning team to deliver equipment to specification
  • Working to set deadlines driven by Project Management
  • Understanding the ERP system and controls (IFS)
