Trainee Machine Operator / Setter

Workshop Recruitment have a new exciting opportunity for an individual who is looking at kick starting their career within the manufacturing industry as a Trainee Machine Operator / Setter. The company are a market leader providing and servicing innovative solutions and products for smoke control, ventilation, climate technology and solar shading.

The Trainee Machine Operator / Setter will be based in their Havant factory, the various teams in the division consist of semi-skilled and skilled mechanical assemblers, machine operators and welders.
The Trainee Machine Operator/Setter will be based within the Fabrication Team, learning to set and operate 3 of the machines used on a daily basis.

Monday to Thursday- 0800 to 1630 (lunch 1230-1300)
Friday- 0800 to 1300 (no lunch)

Flexibility in the role is essential as cover for other departments such as Assembly and Despatch may be required on an on-going basis. Training will take place during the initial 6 month probationary period, and will be carried out by an experienced Machine Operator/Setter within the existing team.

Experience
Essential:

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings (3rd angle drawings).
  • Able to read and set measuring instruments (or have a willingness to learn).
  • Experience of using Production Machines and guillotines.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of company products and applications.


Skills
Essential:

  • Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
  • Pro-active with excellent problem solving skills.
  • Good at following instructions.
  • Good hand and eye co-ordination and attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels.
  • Able to lift heavy and awkward objects safely.
