IT Support Technician

The Desktop Support Technician`s role is to provide a single point of contact for end-users to receive first line support on all aspects of the company`s IT environment.

Responsibilities:

  • To be the first point of contact for all end-user enquiries and accurately log issues and problems using helpdesk system
  • Ensure that all helpdesk calls are responded to within SLA`s
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis and resolution of complex desktop problems reported by end-users and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair for remote users when needed. Where necessary, escalate calls to the IT Support Manager.
  • Ensure starters and leavers are completed in a timely manner and carry out inductions on the basic operation of IT hardware and software with new starters.
  • Perform authorised move, add and change requests to the company`s telephone system and mobile phones
  • Write specifications for purchase and upgrade of computers and related products and assist in the development of long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop needs
  • Promote collaboration with all members of the IT Team to ensure the efficient operation of the end user IT hardware and software environment
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all Company assets that fall under the responsibility of the IT Team
  • Manage the supply of PC consumables
  • Configure and install PC/Laptop hardware and software in line with company standards, ensuring reliability and a high level of performance
  • Carry out maintenance and upgrades on PC/Laptop hardware and equipment when necessary
  • Undertaking of small to medium sized IT Projects

Professional Skills:

  • Preferably educated to degree or equivalent level in a Computing or relative discipline
  • ITIL Foundation Qualified
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Minimum 2 years of network and support experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience configuring, installing and repairing PC hardware and peripherals
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting end users in a call centre or helpdesk environment
  • Proficient with Windows 7/10/2012/2016 Workstation and Server operating systems
  • Proficient with network communications protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, etc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Proficient with Active Directory
  • Strong customer support experience (internal and external)
