Technical Controller

Our client, based in Winchester is a well-established designer and manufacturer of decorative lighting, furniture and accessories. They now have an exciting new opportunity for the right person to join their amazing team.

JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for supporting Electrical Compliance aspects of the company’s product range. Compliance against International Standards (CE and UL) to allow product to be released to market.

Aid development of existing and new products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with the Design & Technical team maintaining the technical integrity of the existing product range.
  • Aiding in the construction and management of formal Test Plans for EU and North America regulation approval. To include electro-mechanical, and EMC test assessment programs.
  • Participate in the Product Development Process (NPI), Product reviews, and work within the product development team to ensure product regulatory requirements are met.
  • Explore emerging technologies and energy efficient lighting solutions and help to integrate these in to existing and new products.
  • Help generate and improve supporting processes and documentation within the product development and technical teams.
  • Actively engage with Production, Design and Quality Control departments for new products, design changes, process changes, etc.
  • Provide technical support to other business activities and departments as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSET

  • Electrical / Electronic engineering experience is essential.
  • Working Knowledge of Electrical Test Engineering / Test Equipment systems.
  • Experience developing electro mechanical products.
  • Experience of Light Mechanical Engineering aspects is preferable but not essential.
  • Working Knowledge of Product Testing against European (CE), and North American (UL) Safety Regulations in relation to the Lighting Industry is preferable.
  • Working Knowledge of Product Testing against “CE” and “FCC / IC” EMC Regulations.
  • High level of competency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc).
  • Takes responsibility for ensuring a high quality of work.
  • Experience with NPI & Technical Office quality controls within an Engineering Office environment.

COMMUNICATION

  • Excellent Communication skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Demonstrates and promotes open communication with all personnel.
  • Excellent team worker.
