Mechanical Design Engineer

Workshop recruitment have a new exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a very respected client of ours, a world-class manufacturer and leading global provider of clean air, hazard containment and safety systems to scientific laboratories and industry. The position will be based out their office in Waterlooville.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will drive projects across a broad range of products. You will be expected to contribute to all phases of the product development process, applying your knowledge to engineer product solutions to a high level of design excellence and innovation. You will also have good communication skills that will be needed when dealing with customers and suppliers alike.

In order to be considered for the Mechanical Design Engineer candidates will be highly experienced in the use of a top end 3D CAD package such as Solidworks, Inventor or Solid Edge etc for producing 3D modelling images and 2D drawings for production.

You will also be experienced in working on designs from initial concept through to prototype build, test and final manufacture.

Candidates would, ideally, need to have a good understanding of the manufacturing processes that includes, sheet metal fabrications, forging, extrusions, machining, injection moulding and general metal fabrication.

Understanding of Airflows / HVAC and project management would be highly advantageous

In addition, candidates must hold a minimum of a HND / HNC level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design.

Candidates with knowledge of airflows / air-handling / filtration would be at an advantage but not absolutely essential.

We would require the candidates to present a portfolio / design-pack of previous project experience for review as well as being Driven, Eager, Disciplined
