Our client based in Shoreham-by-sea is looking to recruit an Electrical Engineer who will focus on the application of a product as part of a conversions/solution for industrial materials handling equipment for UK Ex, ATEX and IEC Ex compliant machines.
Hours
Monday to Thursday 8.15am to 5pm (30 mins for lunch) and Friday 8.15am to 12.45pm
Roles And Responsibilities
Creation of project specification documents.
Component selection for integration into original machine electrical systems.
Creation of electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical to achieve both vehicle functionality and to meet legislative requirements.
Contribute to design of components to be packaged onto vehicles taking account of extreme space constraint limitations.
Specify suitable Ex certified primary traction batteries for equipment.
Define electrical enclosure layouts and population.
Conceive design solutions to achieve optimal execution cost.
Specify product test requirements to support compliance activities.
Producing documentation to support product certification and when required preparing product risk assessments.
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
Proven experience in a similar role.
BOM generation.
Design of electrical systems.
Specification/sizing of electrical components.
Understanding of mechanical/electrical system integration.
A good knowledge of electrical and electronic systems.
HND / Degree or equivalent in electrical, electronics, or automotive engineering.
Proficient in using AutoCAD Electrical.
Design of industrial vehicle electrical systems.
Experience of working in a highly regulated environment.
Exposure to CE marking and creation of technical construction files.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
Design of electrical machine systems and controls.
A broad knowledge of electrical and electronic control systems, for example industrial controllers, plc’s, AC invertors.
CAN protocol knowledge
Knowledge of EMC relating to machines and control techniques.
Background in fault finding complex electrical systems.
Hazardous area regulations and design standards knowledge
