Our client is an automotive parts manufacturer based in Portchester who are looking to recruit a Design Engineer.
Ideal candidate would have at least 2 years’ experience in a design manufacturing environment and knowledge of Catia systems.
JOB PURPOSE
Undertake new and existing product design projects to ensure that fully developed cost-effective designs are produced, to agreed time scales.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To raise agreed detailed product specifications prior to commencing work on a nominated project.
The designs to be manufactured in volume production by the company and suppliers, utilizing all necessary CAD and other technology.
To originate product proposals for consideration by the Senior Engineering of new components and assemblies.
To regularly liaise with fellow designers to transfer best practice / improvements / concepts.
Maintain design drawings, bringing drawings in line with changes that have been made to the component tools, ISIRs or any other departmental request.
Technically assist the manufacturing engineering department during the building of prototype samples for customers.
Technically assist tooling and development departments with concerns arising from first shots of tools and moulding.
Technically assist the test and development function during component validation.
Ensure compliance to company standard part library, design rules and guidelines, and DFMEA protocols
Ensure compliance to QS 9000. IATF16949 and ISO14001 procedure.
Maintain housekeeping standards.
Comply with the Health & Safety Policy and observe all the safety rules to ensure your personal safety and the safety of others.
Ensure that you comply and adopt the 5S programme regarding the organisation of your work environment.
Innovate within the technology or product line you are involved. Assess the IP risk of product during the development process. Protect new innovations through the IDR application process, and re-use company owned IP to improve overall protection of the product.
