Maintenance Fitter

Havant

OVERVIEW

Providing mechanical support to ensure production plant and services remain operational and all tasks within the maintenance system are progressed to completion. The individual needs to be an experienced and skilled mechanical fitter with the appropriate apprentice qualifications.

The person should be highly motivated and have a strong commitment and enthusiastic approach to the role.

Hours:

40hrs/week – 3 shift rotating system (0700 – 1445; 1445 – 2245; 2245 – 0700hrs)

ROLE

  • Maintain production equipment within the plant
  • Identify reasons for failure - fault analysis to rectify the problem
  • Perform planned and routine maintenance assessments
  • Install new equipment/services and improvement/modifications to existing equipment
  • Provide - Bench Fitting, Welding, Fabricating, Lubrication and Pipework Fitting
  • Perform Pre-commissioning tests
  • Occasional building services work
  • Ancillary maintenance tasks including dry cooling system, compressors, water softener, basic electrical fault finding/rectification
  • Maintenance of accurate records; Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Have a flexible approach to providing support to production which may at times involve staying on at the end of the shift to see a job through to completion. Be available to cover overtime requirements to meet business needs. Overtime is not guaranteed
  • Will be required to work any maintenance shutdown periods to ensure tasks are completed and labour resource is available on restart

EQUIPMENT

Experience of maintaining and problem solving the following equipment is an advantage:

  • Gearboxes and associated lubrication systems
  • Extruder screws and barrels (twin screw machines)
  • Water and oil pumps
  • Vacuum pumps
  • Blowers and associated pneumatic conveying systems
  • Compressed air, water and hydraulic systems
  • Material handling systems (mixers, feeders, hoppers, valves, pneumatic conveying, transfer screws/vibrators)
  • Dust and fume extraction systems

Other Duties:

  • Prioritise breakdowns using the production Daily Priority Sheet
  • Assist the Team Leader locking/unlocking of the factory and site as required
  • Liaise with the Team Leader on issues and priorities to reach a satisfactory conclusion
  • Perform machine lockouts where required
