Workshop recruitment are working with a global leading supplier of fibre optic measurement systems. We supply strain measurement systems to many leading Wind Turbine manufacturers, as well as customising core technology for applications in Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Marine and other markets.

They are currently in the market for an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join their team, the role will be focussed on managing and coordinating projects within the Engineering team. Such projects can be R&D in nature (e.g. concept feasibility and prototyping projects with an agile approach), internal process improvement projects, or customer defined projects with tightly defined scope and timescales. The role will primarily be following progress of individual actions and work streams, regularly liaising with team members and facilitating team meetings accordingly, communicating and reporting projects status, analysing and highlighting risks as they occur. Their technology incorporates many engineering disciplines including mechanics, electronics, optics, and software/firmware and material science. The successful candidate will therefore be working with a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Example and immediate projects:

  • Re-design of existing product circuit board to allow functionality with second source chip supplier.
  • Development of the next-generation design of a more compact sensor array patch
  • Improvements to existing products to increase production yield

Qualification and other requirements:

  • Previous Project Management / Coordination experience essential
  • Project management training up to e.g. Six Sigma Green belt level or equivalent would be beneficial.
  • Technical qualification (e.g. degree) preferable
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Must be organised person, with good time management skills and attention to detail
