Production Controller / Supervisor

Our client based in the Chichester area design and manufacture products for the marine industry, products including hoses and hose assemblies.

They use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP - MieTrak Pro) to support their production planning and this position will become a key role in the ongoing accurate administration and use of that system.

Duties

  • Taking a leading role in ensuring that product is manufactured in line with the manufacturing programme and where necessary expediting Work Orders through the manufacturing process to ensure Customer delivery requirements are achieved in line with Company Objectives and Company/Customer KPI’s. Using the ERP system to plan the manufacturing throughput to achieve required delivery dates and for forecasting of lead-times for customer enquiries.
  • Working alongside the Production Assistant and Purchasing Department to ensure that materials, components and ancillary equipment/tooling are procured to support the manufacturing programme.
  • Take a leading role in ensuring the Health & Safety (H&S), Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Safe methods of work/Operating Process (SWOP) procedures are followed to ensure a safe working environment is maintained. Together with increasing the Safety, Quality awareness and self-motivation of the Chargehands and operators.
  • Take a leading role in managing and over-seeing the Company training programme to improve flexibility/efficiency and competence. In conjunction with the Production Manager to be maintaining the Skills Matrix and Training Plan to ensure we have sufficient trained operatives to meet the current and projected Production Schedules.
  • Working alongside Design, Engineering & Charge hands to improve the work space, tooling storage and maintenance of equipment and services within the Manufacturing unit.
  • Ensuring that the actions and conduct of the Charge Hands and Operators complies with the requirements of the company handbook, also when required instigating and carrying out first level disciplinary investigations and meetings.
  • Ambition and desire to make a positive contribution to the future direction of the business whilst building a rewarding and successful career for themselves.

The Person

The ideal candidate would have strong people management skills, ideally with previous experience in managing teams at a Supervisory or Team leader level in a Manufacturing/ Engineering environment.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, the ability to be a team player and lead by example.

Effective time management skills to manage priorities in a busy working environment.

Excellent IT skills, with experience of utilising an MRP or ERP based business information system.

Conditions of Service

Hours of work: 8 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Thursday with one hour for lunch. 8 am to 4.00 pm Friday with one hour for lunch; however, the job will require some flexibility.

23 working days per annum annual leave plus statutory public holidays.
