Our client based in Chichester requires an experienced Maintenance Engineering Technician.

Essential criteria for the role:

  • A can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Experience working on and maintaining equipment, machinery, tooling and general facility maintenance. Ideally experience in maintaining boilers, steam systems and autoclaves.
  • Flexible / team worker.
  • A sound understanding of Health and Safety standards is essential.
  • "Self starter" / proactive and ability to set and prioritise workloads.

As Maintenance Engineering Technician your responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out planned maintenance programmes and schedules recommending improvements where appropriate, to ensure efficiencies are maximised.
  • Carry out fault diagnosis and repair breakdowns promptly to ensure downtime is minimised.
  • Analyse breakdown and downtime causes with a view to identifying areas for performance improvement.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with safe working practices and factory hygiene standards.
  • Produce written reports when and where required.
  • When identifying faulty equipment consult manufacturer’s manuals & read detailed mechanical exploded drawings so correct replacement parts can be ordered.
  • Arranging, liaising and assisting outside maintenance contractors carry out site/plant maintenance.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Been educated to City & Guilds level or equivalent in a Mechanical/Electrical engineering discipline.
  • Preferably experienced within a multi skilled manufacturing or engineering environment with knowledge of 3 phase electrical systems
  • Certified to 18th edition wiring regulations, not essential but must be prepared to undertake training.
  • In depth knowledge of maintenance systems and processes.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of initiating and implementing TPM
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Good decision-making skills, confident, knowledgeable and approachable.

Hours of work (40hrs)

8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday

8.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. Friday

Some flexibility in hours will be required including unlocking/locking up.

(Requirement for candidate to work 2-week company shutdown which falls in August plus one week either side).
