Our client has a vacancy in their Engineering department for a Test Engineer, the company manufacturer converters and a leading producer of AC/DC power supplies. They design and manufacture on-site and are a market-leading designer of custom solutions.

Main Function of the Job

The main function of the job is to perform lab and office based work relating to the introduction and support of products to the production environment. There will also be work relating to the ongoing support of existing and newly designed products.

Hours of Work

8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday with 1/2 hour for lunch, 8.30am to 12.30pm on Fridays.

Job Specification

  • Design, commissioning and calibration of Special to Type Test Equipment (STTE).
  • Support the introduction of MPS-designed products into Production environment – liaising with colleagues at other sites.
  • Support in developing Computer Aided Test (CAT) Programs.
  • Support of in-service STTE / CAT programs.
  • Design Verification Testing (DVT) of electrical, EMC, mechanical and environmental performance on new products – some off-site.
  • Liaise with Design Engineers (UK and North America based) to resolve problems found during Test / DVT.
  • Safety assessments and testing.
  • Generation of test plans and reports.
  • Support of Obsolescence Management with selection and proving of alternative parts.
  • Adhere to the company’s quality standards at all times.

Personal Attributes

Essential

  • Formal qualification equivalent to an HND in electronics or related discipline.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Hands on experience of laboratory based functions such as product testing and soldering.
  • A good communicator, working with multiple departments at sites across the globe.
  • Self-motivated and a willingness to learn.
  • IT literate including familiarity with MS Office software.
  • Willing to travel as required.
