Our client is contracted to provide the day-to-day repairs and planned maintenance to various buildings across the Isle of Wight (inclusive of public buildings and social housing). We are seeking a reliable and passionate decorator to assist with this contract.

Your duties are to maintain high client satisfaction through delivery of maintenance, project and quoted works ensuring a controlled and safe environment whilst working effectively and in a timely manner. To apply attention to detail and ensuring that all work is concluded. You must have relevant qualifications and broad commercial experience. Although not essential some experience and capability to complete tasks outside their core competency is also favourable.

It is a further requirement that all operatives must pass a DBS and Police vetting check and have a full clean UK Driving License.

YOU MUST LIVE ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnose and rectify faults within core and other trades related repair requests.
  • To ensure that the quality of work always meets the highest possible standards.
  • Communicate with the help desk to provide your estimated completion time, materials used on the job and completion details.
  • Support all trades to deliver a professional and safe maintenance and repairs service.
  • Respond swiftly to all high priority situations and resolve them efficiently.
  • Ensuring the customer is kept fully up to date with all aspects of the work and that they understand any disruption to their day that may arise from your work.
  • Undertake all work efficiently and cost effectively, minimising non-productive time where possible and reporting any difficulties encountered to the Resource Controller and /or Supervisor.
  • Apply applicable Health & Safety rules in all you do, using risk assessments, method statements and PPE when needed.
  • Maintain tools, plant, and equipment in a safe, clean, and workable condition.
  • Be willing to work out of hours to the requirements of the client and participate on the call out rota, when required.
  • Always maintain your company vehicle in a clean and tidy condition and report any defects to the Foreman/ Supervisor in a timely manner.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Apply paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
  • Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, enamel, and other finishes.
  • Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
  • Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
  • Consider the Client/ Tenant and cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
  • Calculate amounts of required materials, select & purchase from approved suppliers to minimise wastage.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and switch cover’s prior to painting.
  • Tape off & barrier areas when needed.
  • Apply touch ups and second coats. Clean away any paint splatters when finished
  • Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns, and leave the area clean & tidy when complete.
  • Work on ladders or towers to reach high ceilings or walls.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Over 5+ years trade experience.
  • A full clean driving license.
  • Being competent within your sphere of expertise.
  • Plastering experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Be competent in a secondary skill (Desirable)

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

  • A trade specific qualification minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Painting and Decorating.
  • Full current driving license.
  • A DBS check is required before commencement of role.
